Atmos Energy Gives Back to the Community: Opal J Smith Food Pantry Donation
The escalating public health crisis is responsible for an unprecedented number of school closures, layoffs and economic disruptions across the country, and millions of students who depend on school food programs for their next meal also have parents whose jobs are at risk or have been eliminated due to the pandemic. On, March 27, 2020 the Atmos Energy/Robert W. Best Charitable Giving Fund announced a $1.5 million donation to quickly stock the shelves at local food banks around the country, where students and families affected by the coronavirus outbreak can access a steady supply of nutritious meals during these uncertain times. Through our continued effort to support the 1,400 communities that Atmos Energy serves, a donation of $10,000 was issued to Opal J. Smith Food Pantry Family of Sharing Life in Balch Springs, Texas.
Balch Springs Nursing Home Heroes Salute
America’s entire health care system is working tirelessly to address the unprecedented demands of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nurses, doctors, paramedics, hospital administrators and laboratory technicians are battling this pandemic around the clock, sometimes unable to take a quick break or grab a sandwich at the hospital cafeteria. Atmos Energy therefore salutes health care workers’ heroic efforts by delivering more than 12,000 meals to health care heroes in the eight states the company services. On April 30, 2020, Atmos Energy delivered lunch, provided by the local Sonic Drive In owned by Chris Evans, to the staff of the Balch Springs Nursing Home under the administration of Rhonda Dillard. The great efforts of the medical staff at the nursing home have ensured the continued health and safety of all residents during these uncertain times.
