[ARCHIVED] Coronavirus Relief Grants: Call for Applications

Through CARES ACT funding the City of Balch Springs will address the financial impact and hardships small businesses and residents experienced caused by the public health emergency and negative impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Both applications will be available and accepted on August 3rd through August 21st. Customer Service will be available Monday through Sunday, from 9:00am–5:00pm.

The City of Balch Springs Neighborhood Services Department will provide short-term rental, mortgage, and utility assistance at a max of $2500 per household for those with arrears and/or at risk of homelessness due to COVID-19. Applicants must have suffered an economic impact on or after March 1st (job loss, or income). Food vouchers will be separately provided at $100 per household. 

Qualified applicants must meet Area Income Limits (below). Pre-applications will be processed in the order received. Approval payments will be made directly to the third party(s) on behalf of the applicant/household.

The City of Balch Springs Economic Development Department (ED) established a Temporary COVID-19 Business Retention Assistance Program to aid small businesses. $260,000 is available. Assistance is provided as a reimbursement grant up to $5,000 per business. Applications are evaluated on an individual basis. Grant assistance is not guaranteed. The number of grants awarded are based on funding availability in the amount of $260,000. The small business application period is subject to extension based on response or monies available. 

Applying for other grants does not disqualify a business from applying for this assistance.
