[ARCHIVED] City Council Redistricting 2022

Resulting from the 2020 Federal Census, the City of Balch Springs’ single member council districts were found to be sufficiently out of population balance, which required redistricting. To comply with the “one-person, one-vote” principle established by the U.S. Constitution, the law firm of Bickerstaff, Heath, Delgado, and Acosta LLP, who also provided legal services for the 2010 Census, was contracted to assist with the 2020 redistricting process.

To secure citizen input, several City Council meetings and public hearings were held prior to adoption of a final redistricting map. On December 9, 2021, the existing single-member district boundary lines were amended and Illustrative Plan 1 was designated as the official map to redistrict the single member districts. Scan the QR Code below or visit the City website to view district maps and tables that reflect population data (2020 Total Population: 27,732) demographic statistics (Overall Deviation: 9.25%). A special thanks to Councilmember Marie Tedei (District 7) for assistance to meet project timelines on the Council’s behalf!
