Fire Dept

The Balch Springs Fire Department was established to protect the city, its residents, and their property from destruction by fire and conflagration. With a fully paid staffed Fire Department, we serve the citizens and travelers of Balch Springs to the fullest extent.

Our History

Shortly after our city was established in 1953, the first volunteer fire department for Balch Springs was organized in 1958. These volunteers were stationed at 11301 Lake June Rd., the first fire station of our city, which also happens to be one of the city’s oldest buildings still standing today. Balch Springs’ first Fire Chief, Richard Hill, was able to fully staff this station with 23 volunteer members.

The first fire engine was a donation from the Dallas County Fire Chiefs Association. It was a Ford Pumper with 1,000 feet of hose. One year later, the city purchased their first fire engine for $15,000. Throughout the years, the fire department has relocated two more times and grown tremendously.

Today, the Balch Springs Fire Department proudly serves the City of Balch Springs with 33 full time personnel, 1 100' aerial pumper, 2 engine pumpers, 1 squad, 1 booster grass truck, 1 battalion, 1 fire marshal, and a fire chief.
