[ARCHIVED] The new Adoption Ambassador Program at the Balch Springs Animal Shelter

Animal shelter

We are kicking off a brand new program called the ADOPTION AMBASSADOR program. We will highlight one dog at a time. Each new Ambassador will be chosen based on length of stay, temperament, personality and is just not having much luck of finding a new home. Odin (pictured above) was the first dog we took on this adventure. The program was a success! Riviera's located at 3534 Hickory Tree Rd, Balch Springs, TX 75180 hosted Odin's outings and provided him treats each visit. Thank you Rivieras! Odin came to us in the beginning of June. Towards the end of August he was FINALLY noticed by a loving family and adopted!! We are so grateful this program had its first success story! Our hope is that it continues to be a highlight for our shelter and help more of the animals in our care.

We are starting September out strong with a new Adoption Ambassador. Meet Zoey! Miss Zoey is a 4 year old lab/collie/Aussie mix of sorts who has the sweetest personality. She quite literally would love be a lap dog but fails to see that she is 55 pounds. Zoey was surrendered by her owners 6 weeks ago and we cannot figure out why she hasn’t been adopted yet. Miss Zoey made her debut as Adoption Ambassador on Sept 9th, 2021 at Sonic located at 3628 Shepherd Ln, Balch Springs, TX 75180 . Our local Sonic was very gracious and welcoming! Thank you Sonic for the refreshing water and the delicious looking pup treat!  Go, Zoey, Go!

Keep an eye on our Facebook Page for further adventures! The dogs would love it if the community would stop in to meet them as well as one of our Animal Control Officers. Its an excellent chance to get out for a special lunch date and get to know a little more about the animal shelter, our animals and our officers.  We look forward to what the new program holds for our little shelter and we hope to have the communities support and involvement.
