Do I need to live in Balch Springs to get a library card?: Residents of Mesquite and Balch Springs can get a library card at no charge. If you live outside of these cities you must pay a $15.00 non-resident fee and show required Texas ID or drivers license and a piece of mail with your name and address on it to get a library card.

1. What do I need to get a library card?: Anyone living in Balch Springs or Mesquite can get a library card with a valid Texas ID or drivers license and a piece of mail with their name and address on it at no charge. People living outside of these cities must pay a $15.00 non-resident fee and show a valid Texas ID or drivers license and a piece of mail with their name and address on it to obtain a library card.

2. Do I need to live in Balch Springs to get a library card?: Residents of Mesquite and Balch Springs can get a library card at no charge. 3. Does the library have computers for public use?: Yes. Patrons must have a library card or computer use only card to access library computers.

4. How much does it cost to print?: Printing in black and white is $0.20 per page and printing in color is $0.50 per page.

5. Does the library offer FAX services?: Yes. You can FAX papers at the library for $1.00 per page.

6. Can I scan documents at the library?: Yes. You can scan documents to any email free of charge.

7. Does the library accept volunteers?: Yes. All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age with the exception of students in honor organizations or students needing hours for a special project. Teens under 16 must be approved by the Library Director before beginning volunteer hours. Additionally, teens under the age of 16 must have approval from a parent or guardian in order to volunteer.

8. Can I complete court ordered commiunity service hours at the library?: Yes, with the following limitations:
*Must be from Balch Springs Court or Dallas Juvenile Court.
*Must reside in Balch Springs.
*Must be 16 years of age.
*Must be non-violent offender.
*Must be approved by the Library Director.
All court papers must be presented to the library at the time of the request.
